Science Outreach – Athabasca - February 23, 2021 – Crustaceans - more than lobsters, crabs and shrimps with Dr. Robert Holmberg at 7 PM.

Crustaceans are a diverse group of animals whose members can kill prey with venom or sound, filter food from water with their antennae or legs, or obtain nourishment as parasites. Crustaceans are mostly marine, but some live-in fresh water, and a few are terrestrial. At this presentation, you will learn about amphipods. copepods, decapods. isopods, krill, mantis shrimp, seed shrimp, and sowbugs – as well as the roles they play in ecology and our economy. Also, we will review the crustaceans of Alberta. By attending this talk, next time you eat a lobster or crab, you will be able to tell its sex.
